Graduates earn 834 degrees, certificates from Sandhills Community College


About 31.5 percent of the 834 degrees and certificates handed out by the Sandhills Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Pinehurst conferred 263 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Data shows the school gave out 224 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, followed by 61 associate's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse and 39 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities, Other.

The college enrolled 3,782 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
