Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 17.
Congrats to Johnson Price Sprinkle, Champion Credit Union, Forrest Firm PC and Edward Jones on being honored as one of 2019 Best Employers in North Carolina. In other news, Buncombe County has selected Dakisha Wesley and Sybil Tate as Assistant County Managers. And after a national search, Asheville City has named Chris Bailey as its next Police Chief.
•Johnson Price Sprinkle PA (JPS) is honored to be named one of 2019 Best Employers in North Carolina. Only 34 companies in the small to medium category (15-249 U.S. employees) were chosen. Of this group, JPS was ranked #17 in the state and celebrates being one of four companies based in Western North Carolina. For the 2019 employers that made the list, it was evident the emphasis of work-life balance is key.
•Champion Credit Union, Forrest Firm PC and Edward Jones were also recognized by Business NC as Best Employers in North Carolina.
•UNC Asheville professor Agya Boakye-Boaten has received a Fulbright Award for research on the role of culture in child trafficking + child labor in Ghana. Professor Boakye-Boaten is the Chair and Associate Professor of Africana and Interdisciplinary and International Studies. He will be teaching and researching for 10 months at the University of Cape Coast.
