59 percent of applicants to Chowan University were admitted for fall 2018


At Chowan University, 94 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 51 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Murfreesboro enrolled 1,399 students in fall 2018, including 1,395 in undergraduate and four in graduate programs, data shows. 5.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

57 percent of undergraduates are residents of North Carolina, and 42 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (66 percent) and white (18 percent).

The school admitted 59 percent of the 3,567 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 20 percent enrolled.
